Are you worried your indoor air is making you sick?

Air Quality and Allergen

VOC and Formaldehyde Testing

Strange or “musty” smells have you concerned? Runny nose or asthma symptoms indoors? Worried the air you breath is making you sick?

Air Quality VOC and Formaldehyde TestingAir Quality Testing includes screening for particulates, allergens, molds (viable and non-viable), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Lab results can help in the diagnosis of a building and confirm occupant concerns about specific pollutants

Some air pollutants you can see or smell, but many dangerous air contaminants are colorless and odorless. Without the right equipment and expertise it is impossible to know what is in the air you breathe. Considering the EPA says indoor air is commonly more than five times more contaminated than outdoors, people want to know if their air is healthy or if mitigation is necessary. But testing air and dust requires special instruments, and interpreting lab results is tricky business.

HBS detects and identifies indoor pollutants and helps inform clients about their environment. Often times simple and affordable changes in purchasing or lifestyle habits can have a dramatic effect on Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Other times using an air purifier, air-sealing the crawlspace, or perhaps more involved mitigation is required to achieve good IAQ. Let us inspect your building and run a number of tests to “see” what’s in the air.

VOC and Formaldehyde Testing San Francisco

Indoor Air Quality Success Story:

A Multiple Chemical Sensitive (MCS) client in San Francisco suffered a severe relapse after the exterior of her apartment was repainted. Air quality testing indoors revealed high levels of VOCs and mold spores (an IAQ pollutant).

Sealing plumbing penetrations, installing weather stripping, and running a HEPA filtration system were the first steps. Using absorptive substances to pull the harmful VOCs out of the air was phase two. Within a month she was able to tolerate her apartment again.

Benefits of Indoor Air Quality Testing Services

From gases-to-particulates

Through careful observation and lab analysis you can learn what is in your air. Often times a trained inspector can identify common problem areas without the need of additional lab testing. If it will provide value to the inspection we collect samples for lab analysis. A user-friendly analysis of lab results and recommendations for improving your IAQ is emailed within two weeks (expedited services available).
