Healthy Building Science Joins the Building Health Initiative

We are excited to announce that we are new members of the U.S. Green Building Council – Northern California Chapter’s Building Health Initiative!

The Building Health Initiative is a two-year program in which Northern California industry leaders from multiple sectors have pledged to promote health and wellness. Members have made commitments to take simple but effective actions to catalyze industry transformation and create market demand for product transparency and healthy places.

Member organizations include visionaries in the healthy building industry, including Healthy Building Network, Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Kaiser Permanente, Google, Perkins+Will, and many others. We are honored to be collaborating with these organizations to move the green building industry toward healthier practices.

Perhaps most exciting is that through our commitment, we hope to to improve scientific knowledge about indoor air quality during construction and demolition. By working with partners to gain access to a wide range of project types and sizes, we want to help scientists get a more complete picture of demolition, construction, and early occupancy through sampling.

We hope our role in both healthy building consulting and inspections will bring valuable insight to the Initiative.
